... The Catholic People welcomes the National Revolution, because the entire German Nation, more than ever before, is reflecting on its own character, is stressing its own values and strengths. The National Movement wants an end to unemployment, wants the economic recovery of the fatherland, and above all, it wants the spiritual renewal of the nation as against the materialistic mood of the age. The Chancellor's statement to the Reichstag, The National Government sees both Christian churches as important factors in the maintenance of our national identity, and the unshakeable foundations of morality and decency' creates the bridge, which obligates the Catholic to co-operate in the reconstruction of the nation. For the longest time, the aims of the government have been those of the Catholic Church, which, on the basis of faith and religion, has been aiming at reviving the nation, root and branch. Catholics rejoice with all their hearts that the German people have recognised the absolute value of a moral revival; hence we so cordially share in the great task of establishing a new order of values in the spirit of Christianity. ...
